What do gin and absinthe have in common, apart from the alcohol content? Especially the collaboration of Garage22 and Prince d'Absinthe!

Petr Šlechta is a pharmaceutical chemist who one day was so enchanted by the absinthe green fairy that he began studying old absinthe recipes as a hobby. And then the hobby gradually became Prince d'Absinthe.

This is the kind of story I have a weakness for. Someone who goes into it with enthusiasm and fire and their business started slowly with an obsession with one particular thing, that's exactly the type I want to work with. We got together kind of naturally, he helps us with stuff for the Garage, we help him. And this is how absinthe Eau de Mère was created.

Story time: in 1798, Major Dubied produced the first commercial absinthe. Alongside the famous green version, a mystery item appeared in his account books, a blanche version called Eau de Mère. No specimens have survived. Peter came across the recipe while searching the archives and decided that this could not end up in oblivion. He joined forces with the Swiss master of blanche absinthe Claud-Alain Bugnon, and we joined the Czech side.

Result: 72% vol., 500 ml in bottle, aroma of anise, wormwood and cedar wood, taste sweet and earthy woody.

I am curious about your impressions, so if you have any questions, ideas, or just want to contact me (I take compliments and constructive criticism), my mail is ondra@garage22.cz. Get in touch, I'll be glad. ‍

Gin (or absinthe) at that!
